Out and About 2025
Branch New Year Lunch - Sunday 26th January 2025

Our Branch New Year lunch this year was held at the Half Way House on the A6 near Chorley. Forty-two members enjoyed an excellent two course meal with coffee/tea and mints and of course there was the usual camaraderie enjoyed by all. It was great to see a number of new members amongst us for the start of hopefully another great year for the Branch.
Mechanics' Day Auto Jumble Sale - Saturday 8th February 2025

Classics at the Mill Meet - Sunday 9th March 2025
The St Catherine’s car meet was on the second Sunday of March in Lostock Hall. Notionally, the show only starts at 10am but, as it is a casual come and go as you please event, people have started arriving earlier and earlier. The March meet was very popular with around 200 hundred cars there. However some of our Branch members attented and they enjoyed displaying thier cars as well as admiring the great range of vehicles on display.

Heskin Hall Car Meet - Sunday 16th March 2025

For the March monthly meeting of the North West Classic Vehicles Club at Heskin Hall the weather was perfect for a car show, sunny but not too hot, and the early morning frost was soon a distant memory. The marshals were like a well-oiled machine and, somehow, managed to coordinate 161 vehicles into the parking area in front of and to the side and rear of the Hall. There was a steady stream of vehicles coming in and there was genuinely something for everyone: there were classic motorbikes, a V8 Pilot, Lamborghinis, Porches representing many of the decades (including a 74 plate with a rear spoiler the size of a surfboard on the back), TVRs, classic Minis and a few Moggies from the Branch. Branch members were also there in their other classics, enjoying the good weather and the great camaraderie at the Heskin Hall vehicle meets.
Branch Good Friday Car Run - Friday 18th April 2025

After meeting at McDonalds as usual on the A59 and driving in convoy to Bolton Abbey Station 16 Morrises were displayed – in a different position on the revamped car park this time. A return trip on the train to Embsay Station was enjoyed by all before picnics were eaten or lunches were purchased in the café.
This is an annual outing for the Branch which has been arranged now for some years. We are grateful to the railway for agreeing to us being displayed and for providing two for one tickets on the train once again.
LVC Show, Astley Hall - Sunday 11th May 2025

It was a great day at Astley Park for the LVC Classics Show. There were six Morris Minors, all of which were Branch members. Three members were parked together, but the other three were spread around the park. There were also a couple of very early Minors.
This is always a lovely local show set in the beautiful park of historic Astley Hall.his is an Image & Text block. Bleasdale Tower Gardens - Sunday 18th May 2025

Some Branch members met, as arranged, at the Flower Bowl at Barton Grange.and our Morris cars were joined by a member's 1930 Rolls Royce 20/25 Landaulette and another member's Mk2 Jaguar. We drove in convoy through the Lancashire country lanes to the venue where we were joined by more Branch members in their Morrises. Bleasdale Tower is a private residence set in magnificent gardens which are open just one weekend a year. This year there were over 40 classics on show. The eldest being a 1923 open top Austin 7 (Fylde MG Club), follow by a 1927 Rover 12 Tourer (Pilling Old Car Club) and then a 1930 Rolls Royce (Lancashire Branch MMOC)..
It was a quiet relaxing afternoon, chatting to friends and listening to the Guardian Concert Band playing on the lawn. In the courtyard, there were burgers and hot dogs for sale, tea, coffee and cold drinks, ice cream, cake and strawberry and cream scones. It really was an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Chipping Steam Fair - Sunday 25th May 2025

The Spring Bank Holiday weekend saw a special anniversary for the Chipping Steam Fair, as it celebrated 25 years since its start in 2000. They had a special fly-past of a Lancaster Bomber planned for the Saturday but, unfortunately, the low cloud scuppered those plans and the flight had to be cancelled - much to everyone's disappointment.
There was a fantastic array of exhibits and trade stalls to keep the public engaged as they spent time at the show. There were a record number of agricultural vehicles entered this year - over 200 pieces of machinery - as well as stationary engines, vintage push bikes, classic motorbikes, military machinery, earth moving equipment (giving an active display over the whole weekend, constantly digging and bull-dozing one corner of the showground), steam traction engines and the mini-traction engines. There was a terrific variety of classic and vintage vehicles on display, from a 1920's Rolls Royce town car to a 1990's Ford Mustang and lots in between. Two of our Branch members were exhibiting their 1935 Morris 12/4 and their newly acquired 1975 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow and both were getting lots of attention from the public, though not the judges. However, a Branch car, 1949 Low Light MM was given a highly commended rosette and wore it proudly during the Sunday and around the show ring parade.
on both the Saturday and Sunday there was plenty to keep people busy for two days at the show. Sunday saw the drier weather, for the most part, but there was a cold wind blasting down the field where the classic cars, caravans and trailer tents were on display. We enjoyed our traditional Branch convoy of Morrises from Sainsbury's in Longridge into the show ground with fellow Branch members.
Great Harwood Show - Monday 26th May 2025
After weeks of Mediterranean sunshine in Lancashire, the forecast for Spring Bank Holiday weekend was cool, wet and windy. However, fortunately, the weather for the GHAS annual event was better than expected although windy early on and there was rain later in the afternoon. Thousands of people descended on the Showground for this huge event which was packed with lots of entertainment and events including many craft stalls, animal shows, a huge range of delicious food offerings and much more. According to the Chairman of the Great Harwood Agricultural Show, 10 months of preparation went into the event and that it was brought to life by "an army of unpaid volunteers". He said that the change in the weather had not deterred the wonderful people of Great Harwood and surrounding districts from turning out in their many thousands to see spectacular events and shows.

Heskin Vintage & Steam Rally 31st May & 1st June 2025

Some Branch members attended Heskin Steam Rally which was held on Saturday 31st May & Sunday 1st June. After arriving on Friday evening members enjoyed a lovely evening in the sun looking forward to a good weekend. The weather over the two days was a little changeable but didn't spoil the show. The rally is in its 32nd year and raises funds for a local children's charity the Rainbow Hub and the event has all the craft stalls, trade stands and vehicles you would expect to see. A brilliant local show.
Slaidburn Steam Rally – 7th & 8th June 2025

Slaidburn Steam Rally is now in its 43rd year and was held on the weekend of 7th and 8th of June. In 1980 local resident David McNamee parked his steam roller outside the Hark to Bounty in the village and has grown into the village event that it is today. The rally raises funds for local charities and this year was held on the village green and village hall due to the traditional location at the Hark to Bounty having recently closed.
Saturday was very wet and was almost a complete washout, but Sunday arrived and the weather improved. This is definitely a community event with the usual cake stalls, tombola, local crafts and a BBQ. As usual the sight of a Morris Minor always creates an interest, and lots of happy memories, with visitors.
Branch Car Run – Thursday 26th June 2025

The weather was looking a little grey and drizzly but not to be put off nine Morrises, one Peugeot, and eighteen members met at Barton Grange Garden Centre for a car run organised by Andrew and Sue Jolley.
Members were given a detailed route and at 11:00 everyone set off in convoy – causing quite a stir on the A6!
Crossing the Lancaster Canal we all drove towards Calder Vale and Barnacre, crossing over the River Wyre Bridge towards Scorton and the Trough of Bowland. The scenery was getting better and the roads tougher! After about nine miles we arrived at Harrisend Fell enjoying superb views over the Fylde. Onwards and upwards (literally!) we progressed towards Chipping and Bleasdale, over some very challenging and steep roads before descending towards Inglewhite and Whitechapel and ready for a superb buffet lunch at the Cross Keys Inn.
What an amazing 26 mile run – quite challenging for our Morrises which hit a few pot holes and cattle grids – but everyone arrived for lunch without incident.
Fylde Vintage, Steam & Farm Show – Sunday 29th June 2025
The Branch was well represented at this lovely small show with six members’ Moggies on display together with the Branch's feather flag, as the weather got increasingly hotter!
There were lots of impressive classic vehicles and tractors and we were treated to tractor pulls, dog training and an excellent display of steam engines parading in the arena. Lovely local food stalls tempted everyone and the ice cream van certainly did a brisk trade.
This in another excellent local show and it is always great to meet up with people you know – and also make new friends.
If haven’t been to this event before then give it a try.

Goosnargh & Longridge Show - Saturday 5th July 2025
This is a very popular local show with exhibits encompassing all aspect of Rural Life. The show had a massive Vintage Tractor Class, with the focus this year on McCormack International Harvester, David Brown and Case. Last year it was Nuffield, Leyland and Marshall Tractors. International Harvester bought the Jowett Motors car production factory in 1954 and tractors were built at the Bradford site until the early 1980’s. David Brown made tractors in Meltham, near Huddersfield from 1939 until 1988 and David Brown and International Harvester are now part of the Case Tractor family brand.
The Classic Car section totalled 20; 17 Cars and 3 American Pickups. We had 7 Branch Minors on show, out of the 17 Cars and 2 Branch Travellers came away with Yellow Rosettes;

Branch Rally at Leighton Hall - Sunday 6th July 2025
Our annual Branch rally is always a very enjoyable event. The weather forecast was not promising but after a cloudy morning and one quick shower at lunchtime we had a sunny afternoon. Only 7 Car Clubs had stands and there were 6 lines of Classic Cars.
We had a good show of Minors on display and a big thank you to everyone who attended this year, to support the Branch and run the stalls, raising money for our Charity of the Year which was the North West Air Ambulance.
Branch Bring Your Car Night - Monday 28th July 2025

Bring your car night is always a special event in the club calendar and this year was no exception. A dry bright evening saw 23 Minors looking magnificent lined up in an otherwise quiet car park at our 'clubhouse' at Fox Lane. Members enjoyed looking at the great variety of cars and chatting about everything Morris related! And it was great to see two young boys admiring and enquiring about the cars, politely asking if they could take photos before jumping at the chance of sitting in a member's Convertible. Their enthusiasm was great – it is what we need to continue the interest in our lovely vehicles.
Everyone then adjourned to the clubhouse for our monthly meeting which was followed by our usual buffet supper. As is usual a member of the Fox lane staff was asked to choose “The car they would most like to go home in”. First prize, the Joe Gornall Shield, was deservedly won by member for his immaculate Teal Blue Traveller and second was given to the owner of her lovely green saloon.
Garstang Agricultural Show - Saturday 2nd August 2025

This must be one of the best 1-day Agricultural Shows in the North West of England. There is plenty to see and do and the Main Ring is never empty for more than a few minutes. The found that the Vintage Section was very busy. with Vintage Tractors and Farm Machinery forming the bulk of this section, with about a dozen LCV’s and HGV’s, the Classic Cars numbered 17 with several members having their Morrises on display.
All the entries in the Vintage Section received a Certificate of Attendance and if your exhibit managed to catch the eye of the Judge, you went home with a rosette as well. Congratulations go to mrmbers Steve and Sue Yellow Rosette with their 1957 Connaught Green Convertible.
Cumbria Classic Car Show - Sunday 17th August 2025
Some Branch members joined Cumbria Branch for their Annual Rally at the Cumbria Classic and Motor Sports Show, organised by the Wigton Car Club at Dalemain Mansion near Penrith.
There were 12 Minors on the Cumbria Branch stand; 6 Travellers, 4 Saloons and 2 Convertibles. All 6 Travellers had their rear seats down and each carried items for the Branch; Event Shelter, Gazebo, Flags and Banners, tables etc. We took a table and the Cumbria Branch Noticeboard, proving that Travellers are very versatile. 31 Car Clubs and over 8oo hundred vehicles were booked in for the show. A brilliant day.

Malham Agricultural Show - Saturday 23rd August 2025

Malham Show is held on the showground just outside the village and is nestled in the Yorkshire hills and overlooks Malham Cove. It is hard to think of a more beautiful setting.
The Branch is privileged to be able to attend the show and it is thanks to one of our Branch members Tony that we are able to do so. Tony arranged for LMMOC to be able to exhibit at the event many years ago and we have been enjoying a warm welcome from the organisers ever since.
This is a proper, traditional agricultural show that offers so much for visitors to enjoy. As you might expect in a farming community, there are displays of livestock and some classic farm machinery in the shape of tractors large and small but also gun dog demonstrations, a dry stone walling competition (which was really impressive), Ferret racing, dressage, dog agility (it was great fun watching the public have a go with their pets), fell running, arts and crafts plus lots of trade stands to enjoy browsing.
The public flocked to the show and enjoyed a dry day taking in everything that the event offers. Our cars got a lot of attention as people came in and out of the show ground and three cars were awarded prizes by the Show President.
Stanley Park Car Show - Sunday 24th August 2025

Stanley Park in Blackpool saw over 250 vehicles on display, with 50 cars parked around the fountain in the Italian Gardens. An absolutely glorious day, with many car owners very happy to park under the trees and sit in the shade.
We did not have a Branch Stand at Stanley Park but we did have “Minor Corner”, where 5 Travellers and a Convertible were parked around 3 sides of a flower bed. The Art Deco Café did a roaring trade and was very handy for a late breakfast. The “George Formby Society”, positioned on the steps leading up to the café, provided the entertainment. Another lovely event.
Lytham Green Car Show - Sunday 7th September 2025
Lytham Green is a lovely location for a classic car show run by the Blackpool Vehicle Preservation Group. The BVPG Rally Organisor had provided space for 20 Minors and we had a mixture of Lancashire Branch Minors and we also managed to squeeze in a Morris 8 Tourer, a Peugeot 106 GTI, a 1927 Rolls Royce and a Mk 2 Jaguar. On a dry, bright day, you could not wish for a better place to be by the seaside.
Heskin Hall Car Meet - Sunday 20th September 2025
This monthly event is run by North West Classic Cars and was blessed with autumnal blue skies and warm sunshine. There was an excellent turnout of cars and other vehicles at this great location, as well as the historic hall and grounds to visit there are many refreshment, dining and retail opportunities.
Several LMMOC members were there, some with their "other" cars and some with their Minors. As always, a really good event.

Blackpool Illuminations Run - Wednesday 15th October 2025

The illuminations run is always a great event for the Branch and this year, with the new themed and zoned LED lights, it was even better. After meeting at The Phantom Winger, Preston some members and their cars drove in convoy along the M55 to meet others at Starr Gate, Blackpool and what a sight that was with around 20 cars all lined up ready to go!
It was a dry and quiet evening so we could all drive together without hold ups and those of us lucky enough to be able to have the roof down were able to look up and enjoy the magnificent displays ranging from Razzle Dazzle, Friendly Faces, the Golden Mile Magic, the Tower Festival Headland and terminating with the Heritage Collection of Tableaux. Quite spectacular and the organisers should be congratulated on putting together such a magnificent display.
After the drive everyone met up at the Bispham Kitchen to have our usual fish and chip supper and social chat! Some members then drove back along the prom in convoy to enjoy the lights again as part of their drive back home.
